After all project layers have been modified as required, the completed TerraBuilder project can be processed into a single stream-optimized file (MPT). The MPT file can then be loaded directly in TerraExplorer or published to SkylineGlobe Server. For data that is not subject to frequent changes, or that is delivered on storage media, the pre-processed MPT terrain database offers a portable solution that minimizes disk storage and computation resources for disconnected, offline use. For projects whose source data is constantly being updated or modified, the TerraBuilder project (TBP) can be published from TerraBuilder to SkylineGlobe Server and directly served by SkylineGlobe Server DirectConnect Service, eliminating the need for time-consuming re-creation of complete MPT files. The DirectConnect Service also provides an efficient solution for massive data sets management. More about: Publish a DirectConnect project to SkylineGlobe Server >
The MPT file can be created either:
- Locally
- Over your network – Network fusers can be used only if source and pyramid file directories are made network compatible.
Before creating an MPT, you can create a preview of part of the project, to see if any adjustments need to be made. Especially when working on a big project, it is worthwhile to preview potentially problematic areas so that the necessary corrections are made before the time and resource-intensive process of MPT file creation is initiated. To create an MPT file for a project:
- On the Home tab, in the Create group, click Create MPT and select Create MPT. The TerraBuilder Fuser dialog box is displayed in the background and the Creating MPT dialog box opens.
- Add the required local and network fusers, and click Start MPT to start the MPT file creation process. More about: Working with TerraBuilder fusers >
- TerraBuilder creates an MPT file, in the project directory, using all the project layers that are set to be used in the output. Layers that need a resolution pyramid are listed in the Layers Waiting for Conversion window on the left. When a layer finishes converting to a resolution pyramid it is replaced with the notice Done.
