While all SkylineGlobe Servers can support a very large number of concurrent users, there is an upper limit that is defined in each SGS license. To increase your maximum active sessions, you can upgrade your SGS license by contacting Skyline at support@skylinesoft.com.
When working with a server cluster, the session limit applies to the total number of users across all servers in the cluster, with the load balancer determining how users are distributed.
How Sessions Are Counted
A session is defined as all requests for server data (WMS, WFS, Terrain, 3DML) from a single SGS client instance.
A client that logs in but does not load data does not count toward the limit.
Multiple layer requests from one client count as one session.
Multiple clients running on the same machine (e.g., TerraExplorer Desktop + Fusion + QGIS) each count as separate sessions.
What Happens When the Limit Is Exceeded
If a client attempts to load data after the license-defined maximum is reached:
-
Client side: An error message is displayed and the client is unable to load the layer.
In TerraExplorer Desktop, the message is:
“The server has reached its maximum number of concurrent users. Try again later or contact the server administrator.”
Server side: The Reports → System Operations page logs an entry indicating when the maximum was reached. More about: Data Reports >
Public Projects
Setting a TerraExplorer project layer as Public allows it to be opened in TerraExplorer Fusion without counting toward the concurrent user limit. When a public project is opened in Fusion, SkylineGlobe Server automatically switches Fusion into "Lite" mode. When Fusion is in Lite mode, only the Distance and Area analysis tools are available. This option is available only for sites where the Allow Public Project setting is enabled. More about: Adding Sites > and Setting a Layer as Public
