Load SGS Data in TerraExplorer Clients

You can open projects and data hosted on SkylineCloud in TerraExplorer Fusion, TerraExplorer Desktop, and TerraExplorer for Mobile.

To connect to your SkylineCloud site, use the customer key, user name, password, and access token provided in your Getting Started email. Your SkylineCloud server URL has the following format:

https://cloud.skylineglobe.com/sg/[CUSTOMER_KEY]

Loading SkylineCloud Data in TerraExplorer Fusion

TerraExplorer Fusion is a browser-based 3D geospatial application that lets you view and analyze projects and layers published to SkylineGlobe Server without installing a desktop application.

You can open a SkylineCloud project directly from a Fusion link provided by the project publisher. To open another project from within TerraExplorer Fusion:

  1. On the side toolbar, open Settings.
  2. Select Projects.
  3. Under Open Another Project, click Load.

  4. If you are not already logged in to your SkylineCloud site, enter the following server URL:

    https://cloud.skylineglobe.com/sg/[CUSTOMER_KEY]

    Then enter your SkylineCloud user name and password.

  5. In the SkylineGlobe Layers dialog, search for the required project.
  6. Select the project and click Load.

Loading SkylineCloud Data in TerraExplorer Desktop

TerraExplorer Desktop provides tools for viewing, querying, analyzing, editing, and presenting projects and layers hosted on SkylineGlobe Server.

To open a SkylineCloud project in TerraExplorer Desktop:

  1. If necessary, download and install TerraExplorer Desktop.
  2. Open TerraExplorer Desktop.
  3. From the File menu, point to Open and select Open Project from SkylineGlobe.
  4. If you are not already logged in, click Log in.

  5. Enter the following SkylineCloud server URL:

    https://cloud.skylineglobe.com/sg/[CUSTOMER_KEY]
  6. Enter your SkylineCloud user name and password. Your user name is generally your email address.
  7. In the SkylineGlobe Layers dialog, search for the required project.
  8. Select the project and click Open.

To add individual SkylineCloud layers to the open project, on the Layers tab, in the SGS group, click Load SGS Layers. Search for the required layers, select them, and click Load Layer.

Accessing SkylineCloud Data on Mobile Devices

Skyline provides two options for accessing TerraExplorer content on mobile devices:

  • TerraExplorer Fusion Mobile – A browser-based, mobile-optimized version of TerraExplorer Fusion for iOS and Android devices. No download or installation is required.
  • TerraExplorer Android SDK – A native Android development toolkit for creating custom mobile applications with online and offline capabilities.

Using TerraExplorer Fusion Mobile

To open a SkylineCloud project on a mobile device:

  1. Open a supported web browser on your iOS or Android device.
  2. Open the TerraExplorer Fusion link provided by the project publisher.
  3. If the project is secured, log in using your SkylineCloud user name and password when prompted.

TerraExplorer Fusion automatically provides a mobile-optimized interface when opened on a supported mobile device. Users can view SkylineGlobe Server layers and objects and use the viewing, measurement, and analysis tools available under their TerraExplorer Fusion license.

Developing a Custom Android Application

Organizations that require a custom native Android application can use the TerraExplorer Android SDK. The SDK provides the TerraExplorer engine and API as a map control that developers can embed in a Java or Kotlin application. It supports both online and offline workflows but does not include a ready-to-use user interface. For more information, contact Skyline support.
