Individual geospatial layers and complete projects can be directly uploaded and published to SkylineGlobe Server from TerraExplorer Pro.
Publishing a TerraExplorer Project
To publish a project to SkylineGlobe Server:
- Open TerraExplorer for Desktop. More about: TerraExplorer for Desktop >
- On the Home tab, in the Project group, click Publish to SG.
- If you aren’t already logged in to a SkylineGlobe Server, the Login to SkylineGlobe Server dialog box is first displayed to enable you to log in. More about: Logging in >
Note: Use your email address as your "User Name" and the password you received in your Getting Started email, as your login password. Only users whose "role" was set to publisher can publish to SGS. More about: Setting user roles in SkylineGlobe Server Manager > - Set the View Access for the project. Users with View access can view and load the project from the Layers page.

- Only me – Only for user publishing the project
- My group – Everyone in the user’s group
- Everyone – Editable by everyone
- Additional options are available from the SkylineGlobe Server dialog, e.g., set unique permissions for specific project layers, add tags for advanced searches, or create a viewer token to grant view access. More about: Publishing a TerraExplorer project to SGS options >
- Before uploading a layer, TerraExplorer compares its file size, checksum, and metadata to all files currently on the server, to determine if a duplicate of this layer was already published to the server. If a duplicate is found, the existing copy can be used instead of expending resources on re-publishing this layer. TerraExplorer’s default action depends on how close a match is found: When a perfect match is found, the default action is to use the existing layer; when no match or only a similar (but not perfect) match is found, the default action is to upload the new layer. If you want to perform the default action, click Publish. More about: Publishing a TerraExplorer project to SGS options >
Opening the Project in TerraExplorer or TerraExplorer Fusion
After the publishing process is complete, a dialog box is displayed with the URLs of the Desktop/Mobile and Fusion projects. Click Open by the Desktop/Mobile link to open the project in TerraExplorer Desktop. Click Open by the Fusion link to open the project in TerraExplorer Fusion.

Publishing a TerraBuilder Project (TBP)
The TerraBuilder Project (TBP) and all project layers can also be published to SkylineGlobe Server directly from TerraBuilder. Before publishing the project, TerraBuilder optimizes it for serving by checking various project parameters for compatibility with DirectConnect, creating index files if missing, and creating MPT resolution pyramids that include the original source data for all layers. Terrain databases defined by the TerraBuilder project file can then be served to TerraExplorer clients and any application that reads the standard OGC WMS/WMTS protocol.
