Installation and Setup

To install and set up (first time use):

1. Double click the HoloLens.tez TEZ file received from Skyline. When the TEZ Installer is displayed, click Yes.

2. Open TerraExplorer, and on the Tools tab, click HoloLens. 
   
3. The HoloLens Mixed Reality dialog is displayed. If HoloLens was not yet set up, the HoloLens tool opens directly to a series of setup screens. You can navigate between these screens using the tabs at the top of the dialog: Connect, Install, Print, Done. 
   

4. On the Connect tab, enter the IP address of the computer running TerraExplorer that will be used by the HoloLens headset and your handheld controller device to connect to TerraExplorer. The HoloLens tool automatically scans the network for available IP's and lists them under the Suggested section. Select the IP address which belongs to the same network as your HoloLens is using.
    

5. Optional: In addition to the always-available virtual control panel, you can also connect a handheld device (e.g., smartphone) as an alternative controller for HoloLens:
   1. Scan the QR code in the dialog with the handheld device you intend to use, connecting it to the same network as HoloLens.
   2. Click the Install tab at the top of the TerraExplorer Setup dialog on your computer.
      Note:  This step not only provides an alternative control option but also allows you to verify your computer's network connectivity with other devices. Successfully connecting your phone indicates a likely successful connection with HoloLens. If using a network without internet access, remember to disable mobile data on your phone to avoid it connecting to a cellular network instead.
      
6. Install TerraExplorer AR Player on each of the HoloLens headsets:  
   1. Enable Developer Mode on your device so Visual Studio can connect to it.
   2. Put on the HoloLens headset and look at the QR code on the setup page. Click Enlarge to display a larger QR code. Click the Play button.
      
   3. Click Open to open the player download page in a browser in your HoloLens headset.
      
      
   4. On the HTML page that opens, click Download Player to download the TerraExplorer AR Player. The installation file will then display in your browser's Downloads list.
      
   5. When the download is complete, click on the file in the Downloads list. The installation page is displayed on the HoloLens headset.
      
   6. Click Install. Enter the Sign-in pin of the HoloLens account, and again click Install.
      
7. At the end of the installation process, the player should launch automatically. If not, click Launch.
   
8. Grant permissions for the AR player to access your camera and eye movement.
   
9. Click Print to print a physical copy of the QR code. The location of the virtual table on which the hologram will be displayed is determined simply by where you place this printed QR code. Then click the Done tab.
   
10. Note that you can always return to the Setup dialogs by clicking Settings .
