SkylineCloud TerraExplorer for Web users.
Problem:
When a SkylineCloud user opens TerraExplorer for Web, a blue, blank globe is displayed, indicating that no imagery is available.
Explanation:
If your TE4W settings are configured to use a separate imagery layer, but no imagery layer was loaded into your project, a blue, blank globe is displayed.
Your TE4W settings can be configured in SGS Manager to use either the MPT's imagery data or a separate imagery layer loaded on top of the MPT, e.g., Mapbox satellite streamed via the Web Map Service (WMS).
By default, the settings are configured to ignore the base terrain's imagery since the Base globe project that SkylineCloud users receive, includes a terrain database (MPT) with only elevation data, and a world imagery layer that is loaded on top of the base terrain MPT.
If, however, instead of using the world imagery layer, you want to publish and use your own terrain database that includes both elevation and imagery data, the SGS Manager Ignore terrain database imagery setting must be cleared, so that your terrain database's imagery will be displayed.
Note that custom TE4W configurations define various TE4W elements, including what to use as the base terrain imagery. These TE4W elements are configured in the TerraExplorer for Web Settings section of the SkylineGlobe Server Manager Settings page. Multiple customized configurations can be set, e.g., one which uses your MPT base terrain's imagery and one which uses the world imagery included in the BaseGlobe project.
Solution:
Configure TerraExplorer for Web to display the terrain database's imagery. Do the following:
- From the SkylineGlobe Server menu, select Settings. The Settings page is displayed.
- In the TerraExplorer for Web Settings section, select the required configuration and click Edit. The TerraExplorer for Web Settings dialog box is displayed.
- Clear the Ignore Terrain Database Imagery check box.
- Click Save.
